The Razing Barriers Raising Bars program has been developed to help you reenter society, find a job and rebuild your life for good. This program is developed by people like you who have succeeded in rebuilding their lives and experts in the field. This program offers:
- training to help you find a job or support yourself
- courses to develop social skills
- support groups
- caseworkers to help you find a job and services
- tutors in technological skills, writing and math
- mentors to encourage you.
These services are offered online. We can help get you online.

PRELIMINARY INTERVIEW
You will also need to do a preliminary entry interview so we can better help you.
Preliminary Assessment and Guidance We will call you to schedule a half an hour interview with you to establish your goals and assess the best directions. You will need to develop a learning plan. This is required before registering for any course. |
3. PREVIEW AVAILABLE COURSES
The courses run sequentially at specific dates. Videos and documents with course material will be available online at all times. Once you have registered we will send you an email invite to the courses you have chosen.
A. TECHNICAL COURSES (for a complete calendar please click here or scroll to the bottom of this page)
You can register for ONE of the technical courses. We will provide a caseworker , tutor and mentor for you as required once you register.
DATE: Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm. Starting on March 24-May 12, 2021. (8 sessions, 90-minutes each). Securing gainful employment is one of the single most important aspects of successful reentry, and it can also be one of the most difficult. In this course, we will be identifying obstacles to employment as well as strategies and best practices for overcoming those barriers. As part of this class you will be asked to think about your career trajectory. If you had to write out the arc of your work life, what would this moment be and where will you go over time? This course teaches you how to write a resume and complete job searches. You will be assigned a caseworker who will help you find a job. You have the benefit of signing up for tutoring sessions. DATE: NOT YET AVAILABLE This course will help you assess your interests and skills and then apply for university and college programs and look for funding with a “background”. You may need to be tested or tutored in reading and writing skills or technology skills. DATE: Monday and Friday mornings from 9-10am. Starting February 8 - February 19. (4 sessions, 1 hour each). This course will cover registering a business, insuring a business, tax compliance, asset protection, business plans, lines of credit, and more. At the end of the course, we will try to pair each student with a mentor within their intended industry to help coach them and help them through challenges. B. LEGAL GUIDANCE
This course will help you navigate your legal obligations.
5. Pursuing One’s Legal Rights, Post Incarceration DATE: Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm. Starting March 2 - March 16 (3 sessions, 1 hour each). This course will describe how to navigate the legal system including getting sealings and expungements, and how to avoid recidivism. C. SOCIAL SKILLS AND SUPPORT
Choose one of these courses to get better support while you are integrating. We may also recommend other addiction or other counseling programs.

9. From Victim to Survivor to Offender: Where is Justice? (Not available at this time) DATE: NOT YET AVAILABLE. This course explores the cycle from survivor to offender and how to break the cycle. It will help you to dissect academic essays. |

E. SIGN UP FOR TUTORING AND SUPPORT
DATE: Monday evenings at 6:00 pm and and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 pm. Starting February 8- -May 12, 2021 (excluding Passover Holiday).
Thirty (30) minute sessions Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings as needed
This course is designed to facilitate the use of current technology in order to search for and be hired for work. The focus will be to enhance students’ familiarity and comfort with technology that enables communication and collaboration, online job searches and resume writing and the use of spreadsheets [using Zoom, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Safari…]
