Course Objectives

The Facilitators:

Abigail Rabinowitz is the Development and Program Coordinator at the Hinda Institute, where she initiated and developed both the Hinda Reentry Education Program and the Casework and Counseling Program. These programs have grown exponentially, profoundly impacting families and their loved ones in our community affected by the criminal justice system.

Prior to joining the Hinda Institute, Abigail managed training and coordinated multidisciplinary teams for over ten years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. She received multiple awards for her work and was widely recognized as a strategic project manager who empowered people while creating high-quality, innovative training programs and curricula.

A multifaceted and creative learning specialist, Abigail has over 20 years of experience in enforcement and diversity training within the Canadian federal government. She has also developed and led special education programs, facilitated instruction in schools, and created numerous training curricula.

Abigail holds a degree in Nonprofit Project Management and has worked in Employment Equity within the Canadian government as well as in multiple nonprofit organizations in the Jewish community. She has coordinated and implemented highly successful programs and earned awards for her contributions. Her experience includes analyzing population data, conducting government-wide censuses, evaluating national programs, coordinating extensive needs analysis, and leading focus groups of over 1,000 participants.

Abigail is passionate about making a difference, helping others, and contributing to a better world.

Angelica Green is a dedicated public servant, community organizer, and woman of faith committed to building safer, healthier, and more equitable communities across Chicago. She currently serves as a 25th Police District Councilwoman in the City of Chicago, where she works collaboratively with residents, public safety stakeholders, and community partners to advance accountability, transparency, and community-centered public safety solutions.
 

A mother of three successful children, Angelica’s leadership is deeply rooted in family, faith, and service. She brings more than a decade of experience working at Misericordia, a Christian-based organization serving individuals with disabilities. As a Supervisor on the management team, she oversees and supports educators who work with individuals with unique and different abilities, ensuring dignity, inclusion, and high-quality care remain at the center of the work.
 

Angelica’s commitment to community empowerment extends across multiple sectors. She serves on the board of a food co-op in the Austin community, advancing food access and economic sustainability. She is the President of the La Follette Park Advisory Council, where she advocates for safe, inclusive, and thriving public spaces, and the President-Elect of the Chicago Peace Syndicate Supporter Club, supporting violence prevention and peace-building initiatives citywide.
 

Previously, Angelica served as a mentor through the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, providing guidance, advocacy, and leadership development to individuals navigating systems often not designed with them in mind. She also sits on Chicago’s Public Safety Team, contributing a community-based perspective grounded in lived experience and resident engagement.
 

Angelica is the Founder of Proactive Youth and Pretty Girls Talk Like This, initiatives focused on youth development, leadership, self-worth, and civic engagement. Through these platforms, she equips young people especially girls and marginalized youth with the tools, confidence, and voice to lead, advocate, and thrive.
