The Hinda Institute offers a home away from home for families seeking warmth, acceptance, and connection during Jewish holidays. Each year, we host holiday celebrations for 20 to 35 individuals, creating a space where joy and tradition are shared.

In addition to gatherings, we deliver holiday packages and meals to families—ensuring that no one feels forgotten. On Chanukah, thanks to an anonymous donor and the Decalogue Society of Lawyers, children receive special gifts that brighten their holiday.
Many of our families face financial hardship—80% of our clients and nearly half of the families we serve live below the poverty line. Others experience isolation, whether due to distance from Jewish communities or discomfort attending traditional services. Regardless of circumstance, every family deeply appreciates being remembered.

Jewish Celebrations in Correctional Institutions
Our chaplains, visit correctional institutions throughout the year to bring the light and joy of Jewish holidays into places of tremendous darkness. We provide not only holiday essentials, but also a sense of community, connection, and spiritual uplift.

Through these visits, we ensure that Jewish individuals in correctional facilities can celebrate with dignity and meaning. Here’s how we support them throughout the year:
-
Rosh Hashanah: We provide prayer books and teach how to blow the shofar, helping individuals connect to the spirit of renewal.
-
Sukkot: We deliver Lulavim and Etrogim, enabling the mitzvah of waving the Four Species.
-
Chanukah: We supply menorahs so clients can celebrate all eight nights. In some cases, we arrange for someone to light once on their behalf.
-
Purim: Our chaplains and volunteers read the Megillah and organize festive Purim gatherings.
- Pesach: We deliver kosher Passover meals and all the items needed for a meaningful Seder.
