Employment Opportunities

  • JCFS provides janitorial employment opportunities at state and federal sites.

  • JCFS operates similarly to a staffing agency by placing individuals at different work locations.

  • The organization is open to hiring individuals with criminal records, particularly when the offenses occurred 10 to 20 years ago.

  • Violent offenses may disqualify an applicant.

  • Applicants must be able to discuss their background and explain their story. Sexual offenses are ok as long as they are not violent. 

  • During the interview with Tristan, applicants should be prepared to discuss their cleaning experience and competencies.

Disability Eligibility and Documentation

  • Applicants must have documentation of a disability from a medical provider.

  • JCFS recognizes a broad range of qualifying disabilities and medical conditions, including:

    • Diabetes

    • Neuropathy

    • Mental health conditions

    • Brain tumors

    • Conditions for which the individual is seeing a therapist

Work Locations and Transportation

  • The Elgin location has a significant number of hours available and may offer some scheduling flexibility.

  • JCFS does not provide transportation.

  • Some work sites are closer to Chicago and accessible by public transportation.

  • DuPage locations may be difficult to access without reliable transportation.

Length of Employment and Advancement

  • Employment can be as temporary or long-term as the individual would like.

  • JCFS wants employees to succeed, advance, and pursue opportunities for professional growth.

  • Some employees have worked with JCFS for approximately 20 years.
