Lauren Porter - MA, MHRT/C
Lauren, MA, MHRT/C, is a seasoned casework supervisor with over a decade of experience in nonprofit management and case management. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, a postgraduate certificate in Nonprofit Management, and a Master's degree in Social Policy, and she is currently completing a Master's in Clinical Social Work.
She is a Community Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician (MHRT/C), Intentional Peer Support Specialist, and Registered Recovery Coach. Lauren oversees the operations and development of our case management program, supervising a dedicated team of case managers and peer support specialists. She also leads our internal peer support program, ensuring high-quality support and training for peer support specialists.
Lauren’s extensive background includes intensive case management for chronically homeless women at Maine's largest homeless nonprofit, program development at the University of Southern Maine and the Department of Education, volunteer management with AmeriCorps, and advocacy roles at the Maine Hunger Initiative and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
She is also an accomplished trainer and researcher on topics related to substance use. Lauren has developed and led numerous training sessions for esteemed organizations internationally, including the National Association of Social Workers. Her comprehensive research on various social policies recently earned her a graduate research fellowship.
With over five years of board experience, she actively serves on three Boards of Directors, contributing to grants, community involvement, philanthropy, suicide prevention, policy reform, and access to care.
Lauren is deeply committed to volunteer work and actively supports the United Way of Southern Maine, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Maine Philanthropy Center, and the Maine Drug Policy Coalition.
Her extensive contributions and dedication to community service earned her the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.
